One of the more fascinating claims within the orgonite community is that orgone energy can positively affect water — improving its structure, vitality and even taste. This idea draws on both Wilhelm Reich’s original research and more recent work on water structure and memory. Here is what the theory says and what people actually report.
Reich and Water
Wilhelm Reich was deeply interested in water as a medium for orgone energy. He observed that water exposed to strong orgone fields appeared to change in character — becoming what he called orgonotically charged. He used orgone-charged water in some of his therapeutic experiments and believed it had enhanced biological properties.
Reich also noted that the presence of water was important for his cloudbuster device, which required grounding in water to function. He saw water as a natural conductor and accumulator of orgone energy.
The Structured Water Connection
Reich’s ideas about water and orgone energy connect with more recent research into what some scientists call structured water — also known as exclusion zone water or EZ water. Researcher Gerald Pollack at the University of Washington has shown that water near hydrophilic surfaces forms a fourth phase — neither liquid, solid nor gas — with different properties from bulk water.
Proponents of orgonite argue that orgone energy induces or enhances this structuring effect, creating water that is more bioavailable and energetically coherent. While Pollack’s research does not mention orgone energy, practitioners see it as scientific support for the broader principle.
What Do Orgonite Users Report?
Many orgonite practitioners place devices near or under their water supply — beside a water filter, under a water jug, or near a tap. Common reports include improved plant growth and vitality when using orgone-treated water for irrigation.
The Scientific Position
Mainstream science does not recognise orgone energy as a measurable phenomenon, and no peer-reviewed studies confirm that orgonite affects water quality or structure. Claims about water memory and structuring remain on the fringes of accepted science, though research like Pollack’s suggests the field is not entirely without merit.
As with most areas of orgone research, the honest answer is that the evidence is anecdotal but consistent — large numbers of people report positive experiences, and the practice is harmless.
How to Try It
If you want to experiment with orgonite and water, the simplest approach is to place a small orgonite piece beside or under your water jug or filter for 24 hours before drinking. Many practitioners use a clear quartz orgonite pyramid for this purpose, as quartz is associated with clarity and purification.
